HOW TO WORK AS A TEAM IN DIRECT SELLING

Feb 12, 2023

Teamwork is the backbone of any business but no more so than in direct selling, where it’s absolutely critical to success. After all, one of the main principles of direct selling is that it’s possible to earn and achieve far more when your team is all working well, than you possibly could as an individual.

It can be more enjoyable to work as a team, too – a study from Stanford University has shown that teams that collaborate are more motivated than those that don't [1].

Collaborating and working as a team comes naturally for some, but it can take more effort for others – especially if your team is spread across the country or the globe. No matter which rank you’re currently sitting at in your Jeunesse team, these tips can help you work most effectively as part of a bigger group.

Have a generous spirit
Do you consider other distributors in the organisation to be competitors or collaborators? For many people it’s the former, but when you approach your team with a more generous and collaborative spirit, something incredible happens.

By bringing a positive and friendly attitude to all your interactions, you’ll attract more positive, likeminded people to your team. And by sharing your lessons, models and strategies for success with others, they become empowered to perform better, which ultimately helps you achieve your goals faster.

Having a generous spirit means taking time to introduce yourself to new team members, being available to answer their questions, and avoiding gossip or negative talk about other distributors.

Let others have a turn
Sharing your knowledge with the team is a generous move, but that doesn’t mean always giving your opinion or advice. Pick your moments and wait for your teammates to ask for help.

There are many reasons distributors join Jeunesse; for some, it might be a fun hobby or passion project and they’re not so interested in high-level business strategy. Others will want to pick your brain on exactly how you achieved success.

Show what you’re capable of by recruiting and selling to the best of your ability – and encourage your teammates to ask questions if they’re interested or need help.

Check in regularly
To work as part of a team, you need to behave with a team mindset – and that means having regular meetings to help everyone in the group feel they’re part of something bigger. Meetings give everyone a clear forum to ask questions, share their goals and cheer each other on. Everyone loves to have their achievements acknowledged, so if a team member is kicking goals, shout about it!

If your upline leader doesn’t currently run formal meetings, try arranging regular informal catch-ups with others in your team. Then, from the moment you recruit your first distributor, you can set the meeting agenda – and start creating a powerful team culture of your own.

Once your team-building activities start to pay off, you’ll need to think about boosting your leadership skills. This blog will help you figure out how to be the very best leader for your team: https://www.jeunesseglobal.com/en-AU/blog/the_best_style_of_leadership_for_your_direct_selling_team
