Massive fundraising effort at our Regional Convention

Mar 12, 2019
You know when an entire room of distributors jumps to their feet, clapping and cheering that something pretty awesome just happened.

Whilst our Regional Convention at RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast last weekend had several of those moments, none were as heartwarming as when we announced our record breaking fundraising efforts for the Little Friends program. Our amazing Jeunesse family raised over $25,136 for the scholarship fund we support with Friends with Dignity.

General Manager Australia, New Zealand and Fiji Rachel McVinish was so proud to announce this achievement at our convention’s closing ceremony – if you missed it, you can watch it here.

This was a mammoth effort from our Australasian team, and thanks go to all who helped us reach such a generous amount in support of this truly worthwhile cause.

Big thanks go to Double Diamond, Lyndon Biernoff, who generously donated $10,000. Lyndon is also on record saying that if we raised $4,000 he’d shave his beard off, so Lyndon, we’re going to keep you to that! (Keep an eye out for the special live screening for this momentous event).

Susan Lan, Diamond Direct, also dug deep and donated $5,000 – we are pretty sure she just wanted to make sure Lyndon’s beard was coming off!

A number of the donations came through the ZENergise Workout conducted by the wonderful Kerry Carlyon. By making a $25 donation to join the free workout and work up a sweat, distributors saw the entire amount go straight to the Jeunesse Kids local initiative.

Jeunesse supports Friends with Dignity (Charity of the year in 2018) through the Little Friends Scholarships powered by JKIDS. The scholarships offer academic and extra-curricular assistance to children affected by domestic and family violence.

At the convention, Rachel McVinish shared the moving story of one young recipient of a scholarship. This 12 year old boy was recommended for a scholarship in an application submitted by his school principal.

A student at an Education Support Facility, this young boy has PTSD and an Intellectual Disability combined with vision impairment. He’s been through a lot in his life, from witnessing extreme family violence to enduring multiple care homes until he found a stable foster family. Thanks to the scholarship, he will have help with school stationery and computing equipment, iPad apps suitable for his vision and intellect, and access to school excursions and other activities that there would otherwise not be enough money to provide him with.

It truly is a privilege to be a part of the Jeunesse global family. Everyone who donated towards Friends with Dignity should feel proud, whatever the amount. You all helped make a difference to children in need.
