Setting effective business goals for 2023

Jan 15, 2023

Happy New Year and welcome to 2023!

This is a year filled with possibility for all in the health and wellbeing industry. At Jeunesse Global we are proud to bring best-in-class evidence-based health and aesthetic formulations that are designed specifically to support our consumers to achieve optimal wellbeing during this time.

How then do we tap into this opportunity to drive success for each of our businesses? The answer lies in Goal Setting – both personal and professional.

As we kick off 2023, it’s time to get serious about your goals. Get serious about your own wellbeing – physical and mental wellbeing, and your relationships, in order to set yourself up for success in 2023.

SETTING YOURSELF UP FOR SUCCESS

PURPOSE: You want to create meaning in your life and are driven by your vision of a bigger picture, a North Star, that will be your legacy one day. Is it to bring hope and joy to others by helping others achieve their dreams? Educating a child in need? Supporting an elderly person who is lonely? Find that Purpose to feel fulfilled? Or is it about using your passion in business, to invest in the success of others? Think about what your purpose is.

SUCCESS: You want to be the very best version of yourself. You may define success in terms of money, status or position but, also in terms of the quality of your relationships; or the inspiration you are to others as an expert in wellbeing. For example, empowering others and showing them the way on how to live healthy – diet, lifestyle, exercise and supplementation; which nutraceuticals and cosmeceuticals to use? Or, is success measured by the amount of time you invest in being truly ‘present’ in each moment; or, achieving your dreams of ongoing learning and development to be a better person? No matter how you define it, achieving your definition of success is key.

INSPIRATION: You want to feel inspired and motivated by the people and opportunities around you. Equally, you want to inspire others to feel the same. Find a mentor, or find a mentee – nothing more fulfilling than inspiring young folk to strive for growth and success.

HAPPINESS: If this is your top goal driver, your desire to be happy will influence every decision you make. Define what happiness is and work toward that. Journal each day. Be with others who fill you up and inspire you. Remember, nature too is uplifting. Walking in a forest, or on the beach. Know what makes you happy, and what makes you unhappy and focus on what matters.

ORGANISATION: You like plans, processes and taking a precise approach to your business. Your methodical and focused way of working helps you reach your goals.

RESPECT: You like to be shown respect for your achievements and to have your successes acknowledged by others. Remember to do unto others as you wish them to do unto you. Respect is the food of the successful.

CONFIDENCE: Your goal is to feel confident in your own abilities, because when you do, you know you can achieve success. Your confidence also inspires others around you. Work hard at it. Read daily. Listen to podcasts. Learn and grow. Become an expert in direct selling in health and wellbeing. Be the expert in nutraceutical ingredients.

BALANCE: Balance is key to wellbeing, and it is key to ensure we balance all the things that are valuable to us in our lives – for example, family, friends, work, wellbeing and exercise. Make sure you make time for wellbeing, so you can walk the talk in the work you do.

SETTING YOUR BUSINESS UP FOR SUCCESS

Setting effective business goals at the beginning of the year can set a business up for real success – as the old adage goes “failing to plan means planning to fail” – planning is key to success. With planning comes the need to be self-motivated with habits that set you up for success.

If you know anything about goal-setting, you’ve probably heard about SMART goals. This acronym stands for:
- Specific
- Measurable
- Achievable
- Relevant
- Time-bound

When taken together, this means that goals should be explicit and concrete, never vague. Know exactly what you want to achieve (Specific) and how you’ll measure your progress, including the tools you’ll use to track your results (Measurable). The goal needs to be within your control (Achievable), connect with your values (Relevant) and have a clear deadline (Time-bound).

Having SMART goals is a recipe for success, but they aren’t always approached in the order that the acronym suggests. Instead, an effective goal-setting exercise begins with R – understanding what’s relevant to you. So, before you think about goals, take a step back to get clear about your values first. These exercises will help take your goal-setting to the next level.

TIP – always ask yourself what success looks like for each activity you undertake or goal you set. Importantly, remember to enjoy the journey along the way. Find joy in each moment, win the marathon, not the race.

Wishing you a fulfilling 2023 with much success.
