Product Claims

Sep 17, 2020

At Jeunesse, we pride ourselves on offering innovative and science-based youth-enhancement products to help people look and feel young.  We know our Distributors and product users have accumulated numerous success stories over the years, and we encourage everyone to share their positive results with their friends and family - the right way.  The general rule of thumb when talking about our food supplements or cosmetics products is that they are not designed to treat, cure, prevent or mitigate any diseases or medical conditions.

First let's take a look at a few examples that are considered unacceptable product claims:

1.    “MY SKIN WAS OILY AND PRONE TO ACNE AFTER A WEEK OF USING PRODUCTS, MY SKIN CLEARED!”

EXPLANATION: Many Distributors don't realise that acne is considered a skin condition.  Stating or posting pictures that suggest our products can eliminate, treat or prevent any skin condition is prohibited.

2.    “WITH PRODUCT Z, I WAS ABLE TO LOSE 2 POUNDS A DAY WITHOUT DIET OR EXERCISE!”

EXPLANATION:  Even if you have achieved extraordinary personal results from using the product, you cannot make or advertise statements of extreme weight loss.   These types of claims may encourage unsafe behaviour and are likely to be unsubstantiated.

3.     “I HAD TROUBLE WITH DARK CIRCLES UNDER MY EYES, PLUS FINE LINES AND WRINKLES.  WITH PRODUCT X THE DARK CIRCLES VISIBLY LIGHTENED AND THE FINE LINES AND WRINKLES DISAPPEARED.”

EXPLANATION: Remember it is acceptable to say that a cosmetic product helps to improve the appearance of this skin.  However, it is not acceptable to state that the product actually changes the structure of the skin.  While certain products may help reduce appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, claiming that it can eliminate them completely would not comply with the laws that apply to cosmetics.

4.    “PRODUCT Y IS A LIFESAVER!  IT WAS ABLE TO LOWER MY GRANDMOTHER'S BLOOD PRESSURE IN JUST TWO WEEKS.  SHE STOPPED NEEDING PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION.”

EXPLANATION: Implying that the use of a food supplement or cosmetic product can replace medicine prescribed by a medical professional is strictly prohibited.  Our Distributors cannot make any reference that could lead a person to disregard the advice of their personal physician.  Again, our products are not intended to cure, treat or prevent any medical conditions or complications.

The above unauthorised claims are only a few of the examples we have seen, and they are often posted with before and after photos.  Please be aware that some products have strict regulations on before and after photos shared by Distributors.

As always, before making any statements or posting user experience photos about a product, we encourage you to first take a look at our official literature, the main website or our official Facebook page.  If you do not see it in the resources listed, please do not post it.  It is also a good idea to refer to the Policies and Procedures available in Backoffice or contact Compliance for clarification.

Remember, Compliance is here to help you.  We guide you to your personal success in the most professional and legal way possible.  We love to see you succeed because our success depends on your success.  Please stay tuned for next month, as we will discussing opportunity claims in detail!

Distributors can always ask compliance for support and guidance on online advertising.  If you have any questions about Compliance guidelines, email [email protected]   or [email protected] .
